Abt Associates seeks a qualified Accountant for the Local Health System Sustainability Project’s Jordan Activity (LHSS/Jordan). The LHSS Project is USAID’s flagship initiative in integrated health systems strengthening, with a goal to help low- and middle- income countries transition to sustainable, self-financed health systems as a means to support universal health coverage. LHSS/Jordan in particular will support the Government of Jordan’s (GOJ) efforts to improve health care professionals’ competencies to deliver quality health services through the institutionalization of a mandatory continuing professional development (CPD) system for professional license renewal. The Activity will also work with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and private sector on strengthening the Jordanian contact tracing system, providing rapid support to the country’s immediate COVID-19 diagnostic capacity, providing assistance to private and public sector partners for COVID-19 case management and surge support, and advocating to develop a legal framework for telemedicine services.This is a full-time position based in Amman, Jordan, working under the supervision of the Activity’s F & Ops Director. This position duration will be until July 31, 2025Responsibilities:Financial Management tasks:Assist in the budget tracker monthly updatesAssist and prepare the project projections and update the budget tracker.Assist the DFO in the monthly project financial cash request deviations and BVA analysis.Assist with the project sub-contracts, consultants, grants, and partners capacity building and training for accountants and with financial reporting submission according to the donor rules and regulations..Accounting:Assists in the preparation of accurate financial reports and projection of funding needs;Prepares payment vouchers and corresponding checks;Prepares monthly bank reconciliations;Responsible for ensure all supporting documentation are in place;Responsible for recording expenditures, income, and any other related transactions, in the books of accounts;Prepares payroll and other regular payments with due consideration to deductions (for advances, loans, taxes, etc);Follows up on monthly wire transfers;Checks petty cash payments and periodically reconciles petty cash balances;Ensures that the books of accounts are up to date at all times, orderly, well kept, and readily available for reference and audit, when required;Prepares monthly cash requests; andEnsures that government taxes are paid on time.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management, business, or another relevant field preferred.At least four years of professional accounting experience required; experience in program financial management is desirable. A maximum of six years of total experience is needed. Experience in payroll management, cash management[RM1] , and financial reporting.Experience in inventory management is desirable.A self-starter that is able to perform under pressure is preferred.A strong command of financial and other computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, Quicken, Access, etc.USAID Funded Projects and /or other international funded projects experience[RM2] .Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree + Two years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree.
